If Its To Be,
Its Up To Me

This is an important attitude, from Zig Ziglar, I believe. It is accepting responsibility, rather than labelling things as "Somebody Else's Problem" as We-Humans are often inclined to do. for quite a few years now ItsUpToMe has been my adopted motto and attitude. I lost, but have now recovered the website.

Perhaps it was Tony Robbins rather than Zig Ziglar, - or another motivator who coined the phrase “If Its To Be, Its Up To Me” .. but it is how a caring and an honorable person should run one’s life – When I see something that is wrong, it would be NICE to “pass the buck” to government and/or its representatives, but in reality, "The government" is a self-interest group of self-interested people. “Democracy” is a delusion foisted upon us by the rich and powerful – and were it not so, we would possibly be in a lot more trouble, as most of us (humans) do not care for much other than our personal and group self-interest – and this is not only destroying our OnePla.net for ourselves, but also for all other life thereupon

Global warming

The popular catch cry (and Global warming IS a REALITY) is that we expect others to fix it up for us. the industrial "WE" have dug ourselves into a hole, but we refuse to stop digging. Although It’s not the biggest danger to “us” and our OnePla.net though it is a big one, to which the answer is STOP BURNING fossil fuels.

FineAnswers.com (My website) is a pun on “Finances”, of course, but Finances.com was already taken, and not affordable by me! ... Answering “Fine” to problems is NOT the intent but there ARE answers, very good ones, if only we can learn to think beyond our selfish selves and group, to look at what this is doing to not just our cities and nations, but ALL life, human and otherwise on land or in the acidified seas. “Requiring change” we surely do. But we are just oh so willing to claim that it is OTHERS that must change to suit us, which is a lot easier, more emotionally appealing, and, we feel, less work for us

Cheaper Petrol Prices

This is what we WANT to hear, but is FAR from what we need, other than at a selfish level. Limiting burning by INCREASING the price is one way to kerb excessive use, but it favors the rich, and disfavors those less so. A RATIONING system would be fairer, meaning that the “over-burners” would have to cut back or pay ther less privileged for extra rations. It’s one way, but not necessarily the best. Providing a BetterTransport.Net for all who need it would be a lot better and fairer, and a world with less people, needing less transport another improvement.

SANITY ... A ... SANE approach to HOLISTIC problems is an HOLISTIC approach! all things are connected, and unlimited expansion in any confined space will always cause a catastrophic explosion be it gasses or people. We MUST limit population growth. There are no longer any substantial “new empty lands” we can conquer and cultivate, and already our existing lands (and oceans and atmosphere) are being badly damaged by our human growth and actions. If we fairly considered ourselves, “Human animals” as other “fauna”, trhen our our own definitions would show that we are in plague proportions and doing a LOT of damage to all other species. We avoid thinking of this, and blame others, NEITHER of which are good responses

Desires

We’d all like a good (or a better) life. “We” being not limited just to humans, but to all living creatures capable of thought, even at the lowest levels (solicitors and politicians) but it is we humans that have the CAPABILITY to work this out, and the CULPABILITY to know we should, even though we would rather have a good time right now! but... we CAN have a good time without doing so much harm

Rule #1 is TO CARE.

Caring requires thought, not mere compliance with what others call thoughtfulness. Caring requires WORK , though it is rewarding work, though not directly in terms of DOLLARS – the often "quoted" value of our work. The value of our lifetimes work may be expressed in terms of the LEGACY - Often Quoted in terms of money and other assets bestowed upon death to one’s children, nation, religion, or “chosen ones” – What do we leave? the answer is “all of it”

Alfred Nobel left as his legacy “The Nobel Peace Prize” for individual achievements, to offset the large amount of royalties he received for formulating a stabilized form of Nitro-Glycerine (“Dynamite”) – a highly unstable explosive used in mining to a stable one, which then got used for war. "These days", most millionaires just leave it to their over-priveleged kids who have always expected it, their religions and their sycophant dynasties. That is, what is left after endeavoring to spend it all personally in high living before they die.

BUT ENOUGH … “If Its To Be, Its Up To Me” Changes need to be made. Changes in BEING FAIR

“The Law” should always be fair, yet is not, so “If Its To Be, Its Up To Me” I have no intention of taking up a gun against "The Law" And nor should you... Nor should we try to blow up Parliament-House.com as Guy Fawkes intended to so long ago - if you have suggestions for graffitti on that website though, please send it in to the webmaster.

as for Soliciturds.com - well – though probably 90% evil and self-centred, Murder is still a poor way to deal with them – a re-education in fairness (and prohibition on accepting fees, “kickbacks” or bribes other than from government coffers) and ditto government itself, and “health insurance” for only those able to afford it. If you are ill, or you are being attacked or bullied or cheated you should be treated equally to anyone else in a similar position, not given dispensations to act immorally or unfairly. ALL solicitors should be paid for from the publio purse - no "extra care" and privelege for the rich. Lets have a better system for ALL of us, not just SOME of us

Democracy

Democracy SOUNDS fair, but it isn’t. there was “democratic” agreement on the flat earth theory, but it was not righ. Women and aborigines were not part of democracy until as little as 50 years ago - and foreigners, other primates and fish still have little democratic input. A political promise means very little, and I’d point out that Adolf Hitler was also “democratically” voted into power. These days (2008) To be "democratically elected" you have to pay for advertising and the many lead up events with hard cash, so have to have bankers on your side, not peasants. Peasants are easily swayed later on by promises made with little calculation or probability of being kept - except, of course, to the bankers that "you owe" and/or "that own you".

So what’s ItsUpToMe.com all About? How will I help YOU?

My plan is to wake up the selfish, lazy and uncaring people to the necessary things to enable our survival – by “Our” I mean “ALL of us” – or as many good and caring people, creatures and things as possible, for as long as possible, as happily as possible. “I can’t do it alone” .. but if none will help me, then I will STILL try my darndest to! -I am now, please contact me if you can help - here are some of the main areas for which I have specific plans, even if not yet fully developed!

1) UnitedSpaceAgency.com The majority of the solar systems power and other resources lie beyond our sky, yet, despite several missions having put men on the moon since 1969 - now nearly 40 years ago - we appear to have lost interest in anything over our domestic horizon, and that could mean the death of all of us. There is still no indication of intelligent life within our galaxy or beyond (possibly excepting ourselves;-) and fantasy devices such as "warp drives" and "time travel" are often used to make adventures out of things unlikely to be ever possible. We CAN go visit other stars but there will be journey times of at least 40 years to do so. Not impossible, even in biological form - but there are PLENTY of spaces around our own star "Sol" where we can BUILD places to live, and adventure within the bounds of known science, starting with GravSat (proto, 1, 2, 3) and utilising materials and energies from our own moon and "local" (1AU) orbits before adventuring to mars and beyond.

Although it may not sound like the most URGENT of Our Planet's present problems to deal with, it is, I believe, a lot more important than many of the things we are doing now -

firstly, it gives us better perspective, and something to strive for,

Secondly, it gives us a level of "backup" at a global - indeed, Super-global level against some cataclysmic events.

Thirdly, it "opens a channel" to stellar resources and energies, in truly ginormous amounts.

At ANY time our access to orbit and beyond could be blocked for millions of years by hostile action, accident or celestial "mishap". If that occurs, it would need "fixing" from above , from a stable, self-sustaining "artificial" colony - which can only be established BEFORE that event. Although it is unlikely that we'll be hit by a sizable comet in the nexr 2 or 3 years (as the last really big one was 65 million years ago) it is not impossible. Although we have SOME idea of the shorter period asteroids and comets orbiting our sun, we have virtually NO IDEA of what (most of us) regard as "empty" space beyond it, except that "empty space" does not exist even between stars in our galaxy, or even between galaxies. All our eggs are in the one basket. the only insurance is to put some beyond it. ... BEFORE that event

2) BetterTransport.Net

Returning to Earth... one of the causes of global warming is the burning of Hydrocarbon fuels, largely by power stations, cars and aircraft. We do not NEED to burn hydrocarbons in power stations, and we should desist as soon as possible, a reduction of 10% per year is an achievable amount, so LETS DO IT - I'll show you MANY ways how.

Providing a Better Transport net needs to be done anyway, even apart from global warming, it kills, maims and sickens many of us, shortens our lifespans, pollutes our streams and rivers and is noisy and smelly, quite apart from its global warming problem. It's a problem in all cities, not just here in London, where I rely on busses or legs, but also in my previous Perceived "haven", Australia, where public transport is often unavailable, and/or slow, and very patchy. I'll get onto that website soon!

3) Practical-Immortality.com

Circa2020 "in about 2020" I calculated, in 1996, the application of moores law to the development of computing ability and memory capacity would lead to the CAPABILITY of human equivalence in an artificial system. I still think that is about the time that such hardware will be available, though whether we may be able to "upload" our personality and "feelings" into such a system at that time are more in doubt, due mostly to our inability to both imagine it and devote efforts towards it. I'll be 73 in 2020, and hopefully still alive and not lost ALL "my marbles" :-)

Like many of the (wonky) promises of religions, working out whether one can have a "life after (bodily) death" is something worth spending considerable time and effort on. It is all too easy to be "sucked in" by the easy option of "Faith and Trust" in such extremely dubious systems as are promised us by various priests and their parrots, that if we praise their fictitious chief and perform bizzare rituals, we'll all be OK and live happily ever after.

"Belief" in science and technology is not based on "Faith and trust", it's based on DOUBTandTEST which is a lot healthier and more realistic, I "believe" by observing it to be so. There MAY be "A great spirit" that guides us all and saves us from death many times. but more often it is by keeping one's wits about one that we survive.. and luck, and the works of others.

Presume, for a moment, that one DOES awaken after a trauma into such a "human equivalence computer" the size of a refrigerator, say. fear not, it's got broadband, audio and video I/O and can soon be given manipulators with "feeling" .. and next year it'll be half the size. Me, I'd be overjoyed, I can work with one such body and go play in another with less guilt for the wasted time! also, in a few more years I can hibernate a copy of me on a trip to another star... and welcome my own return 300 years later..

whether either "creature" or "entity" would be "me" or not is arguable .. as would be my EntityRights.Com (compared to "Human rights") were I to be regarded as "property" or "a machine" only - it could be scary (again) for me or any"one" else so "captured", "saved" or "labelled"

Circa2020 the first such "entities" may be artificial and experimental - presuming that this precedes an "upload" (which is likely) of a creature of the human womb, such as I. Would that make me a "better person" than the other? Am I likely to be viciusly murdered like the LAST "Lord Oxford"? ... google it.

4) Law-Reform.Biz

Meanwhile, on a sunday afternoon, I have other concerns to deal with - will I lose my house to corruptions of the law in Australia?, or my human life to bullies with murderous intent elsewhere? - will I be missed, or will I be Hit? or both or neither? I think I have a lot to offer, but I'm having difficulty finding takers, or even getting paid for what work and effort I do put in. Conformity is rewarded, non-conformity punished, but I didn't expect the spanish inquisition, Monty.

(older stuff, before Sunday 3108-008)

I'm adapting the site from ExplodingCarefully.com

Our OnePla.net has too many people living on it, and its eco-systems are being destroyed by human greed and lack of care or consideration for it. This, and sister site FineAnswers.com are not site just for having a go at Macquarie Bank, or any other greedy capitalists. we ALL are selfish, on occasions.

Of course, it’s pronounced as “Finances” and puns it. If you want quick money, it usually involves BOTH stealing it, and getting away with the theft – but this is NOT a way to improve yourself, your community, or humanity – we’ve all heard “there’s more to life than money” and this is certainly true for EXCESSIVE wealth that most of us would like to have – that is, more than “the world’s average wealth”

Hawkwind said “Statistically, we have a better chance for survival if we think only of ourselves” and this is true in SOME ways, but not ALL ways. Unless we spend a bit of time thinking about others we are all going to die, and our children and other lifeforms – as of 2008 this is already plainly obvious globally, unless we close our eyes and “think only of ourselves”. Not “seeing” it is a comfortable folly... For now.

Answers depend on what questions are asked – and even then may not be true. There ARE “Universal truths” like the speed of light, and “cause and effect”, “selfish genes” and people. (Like Allan-Moss – “More sycophants than an aardvark”)

By all means, ask me questions, but more importantly, ask yourselves questions, and ask those that claim to be your leaders questions – and THINK about the answers that you receive from all your questions, and those answers that you don’t receive too!

GLOBAL WARMING

.. only just got accepted as a fact, and some efforts (nowhere near enough) are being made to combat it – but it’s just a fraction of the problem of too many humans AND too much burning .. all 6.1Bn.Us (2002, more now) “Share” (very unequally) OnePla.net with its large, but limited resources, including just the ONE atmosphere, in rapid decay, yet we keep on having more babies, and digging up fossil fuels to burn, and chopping down rainforests to grow cheap soy for chook feed and to produce bio-fuels, whilst the world’s deserts bake in abundant solar energy and a single pluton (magma chamber) could provide much of the worlds energy needs without burning anything.

STARVATION

After Bob Geldorf got his knighthood for feeding African babies, and john Lennon sang of Bangladesh, a “Band-Aid*” solution to a broken leg was taken – (*but ‘scuse, “Band-Aid” might only be a sticky tape dressing in Australia) and now african “refugees” (economic migrants) swamp Europe and the rest of the world – and continue to have many babies both at home and abroad. Linking food aid to population limiting might not be popular, but should be vital. Population limiting should be vital anyway, right now.

CHILDREN

The exclusive ownership of children should cease. Children should not be a resource for the amusement or greater glory of their parents, nor severly advantaged or disadvantaged by their parents status in society – and, most importantly, there needs to be LESS OF THEM.

The Chinese government is the only one that has implemented a limit – that of “one child per family” which is a less than perfect solution in a number of ways, but had they not, 20 years ago, the dire circumstances in China (and the world) would be even worse.

As a man, my role in creating children is minor, one of a million sperm cells can do it any day, any time a woman chooses to accept it, even after storage in a sperm bank. Personally, I know of no children I caused deliberately or accidentally. If I were overly rich, such sperm could be used to demand “legal” paternity rights against me, even without a single act of sexual intercourse. We men are “victims” of “love”.

This is not to say that we have no desire to raise and protect a family – we do (mostly) but most legal and religious frameworks allow only “paternity rights” that we pay for.

Whatever, our human needs to nurture (and play with) the young are real (most particularly, but not ONLY for women) and a share in the pleasure and pain of parental duties is needed no matter what the biologies are.

The needs of children themselves are largely ignored, except where they align with the “owner’s” needs, and this is not good enough. Single child rearing (especially in religious cliques) is dysfunctional and unfair, as it further entrenches “privileged” and “under-privileged” group division and feelings. Groups of about 7 children should be raised together in a CHILDRENS communal house by SEVERAL caring, balanced parents..
